The Enemy of Excellence

What is the opposite of excellent customer service? You might think of the opposite of excellent customer service as poor service, horrible service, or even awful service. Actually the opposite of excellent customer service is average customer service!

Here’s why.
  • Average service usually is good enough to get the job done.
  • Since most people tolerate or accept average service, it has become the too prevalent.
  • Since average service is tolerated, there’s no motivation to move to excellent service.

Well then, why should you go to the trouble to provide excellent service when average service will do? Here are three good reasons:
  • Excellent service makes our job easier since the customer responds better.
  • Excellent service improves our self-confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent service improves our outward countenance.

What perceptions do your customers have when you provide excellent service? Here are three customer perceptions:
  • Excellent service shows the customer what you think of them.
  • Excellent service shows the customer what you think of yourself.
  • Excellent service shows the customer what you think of your company.

Providing excellent service to you customers is the best way to show them what we think of ourselves. Expect excellence from yourself and all your co-workers and staff.
